Did your boyfriend have to show you 2 paycheck stubs before he believed he didn't work at a corn chip factory?
Do you roommates politely suggest you leave your running sneakers in the hallway of your building, and your neighbors have complained?
You may have a Stinky Shoe Situation and I have the solution:
For this project you will need:
1 pair of old socks (preferably sweat socks but not stockings)
1 pair of scissors
1 cup of baking soda
1 ruler (or you can just guess, like I do)
a sewing needle and a spool of thread (or a sewing machine, if you have one laying around)
Instructions:
- Measure 2-3 inches (depending on the size of the shoe) from the toe of the socks and snip across.
- Fill your pouches with a 1/2 cup or less of baking soda.
- Sew the pouches tightly closed. You may have to go across a couple of times to get a good tight seam.
- Toss them into the funkiest pair of shoes you have and you're done!
These babies will last for 3-4 months. You can mark the date on them with a sharpie as a reminder, but I'm pretty sure you'll know when they stop working.
You can make larger sachets (the fancy name for these) and use them in your laundry hamper and gym bags.
You can use the entire sock (just sew up both ends) and make enough deodorizers to freshen 4 pairs of shoes.
They make great home-made gifts. Just use new, fancier socks and don't tell the recipient that they're for shoes.
Sweet Smelling Shoes for everyone!
Thanks for tuning in!
