"Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination" - Jim Jarmusch(stolen from this book.)
Every Friday I'll be featuring ways to spend your weekend Adding Bliss neatly organized into the six blissful categories of: Spiritual Bliss, Chronological Bliss, Physical Bliss, Intellectual Bliss, Financial Bliss & Relationship Bliss. This genius idea was lovingly borrowed and modified from one of my favorite blogs.
The hubby and I have decided to make 2013 the year of Living Well Below Our Means. So this weekend I'm going to try my hand at couponing. I'm hoping to someday graduate to extreme couponing but I'm taking baby steps. I'll be sure to keep you posted.
In the meantime, please check out these awesome things I found to keep you entertained until Monday...
** UPDATE: 12.15.12 I have edited the post to remove the name of the individual responsible for this atrocity. No one asked me to, but I made the choice to do so because I didn't want the focus of this post not to be the crime itself but it's effects, my personal feelings about the tragedy and what we can do as a global community to move forward and make things better. Speaking of making things better; as promised I listed a few ways that everyone can help to comfort the families directly affected and work to make sure awful events like these never happen again. Thanks for reading! ***
As most of you know a terrible tragedy befell the people of Newtown, Connecticut and our entire country. A gunman, entered an elementary school and opened fire killing 27 innocent individuals including 20 children, between the ages of 5 and 10 years old.
And the only thing that courses through my mind is why? Why did this happen today? Why does this keep happening?
Recently, I was editing photos from my anniversary party (One year down, only 64 more to go...) and I realized I was spending an inordinate amount of time removing blemishes, erasing stray pockets of skin bulges, whitening teeth & whitening eyes. Did I mention these were pictures of me? Ugh...
So, I decided to make 2013 The Year of Photoshopping Myself in Real Life!
This entails a no nonsense year of diet & exercise lifestyle changes, which should be easy since Hostess went "belly up" (sorry, I couldn't resist) and a beauty regimen that would make Halle Berry stop me in the street and say, "Girl, your skin in gorgeous!" This is mostly because, like all of us, I want to look and feel better but partly because it saves me hours in the Adobe Suite which can better spent reading Suri's Burn Book and bidding on Devil Dogs on eBay.
Do you find yourself asking this question a lot? Is it usually while you're running around your house frantically clawing through piles of stuff while keeping one eye on a clock seemingly ticking away the time at a breakneck pace while the chronological window in which you have to leave your house and still get to work on time (barring the teeniest bit of traffic) is closing like an ancient stone gate in an Indiana Jones movie?
I was on the fence about Anne Hathaway as Catwoman but she turned in an impressive, nuanced performance as 99 percenter with a past she'd like to forget and very sticky fingers, Selina Kyle (she was never called Catwoman in the movie, though there were subtle hints), so I wanted to pay homage to one of The Dark Knight's more interesting nemeses and look back at the best (IMHO) cat women in year past; starting with my favorite...
Moonrise Kingdom is a beautiful, funny and deeply touching movie about two twelve year olds whom society has labeled as mentally unstable who fall in love and run away together. It's basically every kid with ADHD's dream scenario.
It's Always Sunny In Philadephia is one of my all time favorite shows and this recipe is inspired by the great Charlie Kelly whose favorite dish is Milk Steak and knows grilling a steak on the radiator is the only way to get the best flavor.
So the next time you're in the mood to combine the two best food groups; meat & dairy, fire up the radiator for some delicious Milk Steak a la Charlie Kelly...
Be sure not to make this recipe while wearing a Halloween costume, if you get milk all over you there will be no one to switch costumes with.
I can't imagine it being summer with out flip flops, but as they do every year news reports flood the airwaves decrying the use of the most beloved piece of footwear since, well... ever!
"I owe my success to having listened respectfully to the very best advice, and then going away and doing the exact opposite." - Gilbert K. Chesterton
They say opinions are like assholes and everybody's got one. And lucky for us not everyone shares their assholes but for some reason they can't seem to keep their opinions & advice to themselves.
